What You Can Do

There are many things we can do as individual Ontarians to reduce our impacts on source water. In this section you will find fact sheets on protecting source water around the home, the cottage and the farm.

In addition, you can take an active role in your area's source protection efforts by communicating with your local Source Protection Committee and attending the public meetings which Conservation Authorities and the Ministry of the Environment host around the province.

To find out more about source protection in your area and when public meetings are being held, you can contact your Source Protection Area's or Region's lead Conservation Authority, or Source Protection Authority; contact information is located in the In Your Region section of this website. Many Source Protection Authorities write electronic newsletters which you can sign on to, and which will keep you informed on source protection developments in your area.

Lastly, organizations actively working to protect, or concerned about, Ontario's water resources are encouraged to join the Water Guardians Network.
